Event 4 Scraping Screamers' last-ditch challenge On the way to Durliegh there was plenty to concern me. The wind was blowing about a force 6, storm clouds were looming and would the Devils have a team if not would anyone open the club? The Sailing club members made a sensible decision to abscond to Weymouth for a weekend trip leaving the whole lake to the
Off we go Fleets were split with the 3.5m and 4.5m racing around two marks and the bigger fleets using all three, marks giving them a bigger course. Tom Stevens from the Animals (BIC) showed he had webbed fingers and won the first race convincingly, followed Sailing starts Race 3 needed a small adjustment to the marks and a triangle suddenly appeared for the teams to race round and a cross-shore course for our novices. Laurel Townsend showed a clean pair of footstraps and led from the start of race 3 and held the lead to the A break for lunch left Rowan with a clear lead in the 3.5m fleet over Fynn Page and Elliot Cash. Tom Stevens was leading the 4.5m fleet from Doug Cooper whose brother Chris was leading the 5.5 Fleet. Peter Hall was leading the 6.8m open and Callum was dominating the NJC. Some good results Two more races were held after lunch; with Fynn Page returning to form with two bullets and Nathan Baker sailing well to achieve two seconds. Seb cooper called on his experience to win the last two races in the 4.5m fleet, with Zack page chasing him all the way trying to gain the lead. The 5.5m fleet was dominated by Laurel Townsend who won every race in her class, proving Zone training pays off. Tom and Callum won the 6.8m fleets. And so to the prize giving. Richard Bruce of Durliegh SC presented the prizes and thanked every one for coming and the sponsors for their continued support. Special award went to Jenny Attwood-Davis for persistence and improvement during the event. During race 4 Helena Park got entangled in the finish mark and her boom catch caught as she tried to uphaul. Laurel from the Screamers stopped to help her rival and got her clear of the line. Laurel was awarded a merit prize for such good sportsmanship. Winners SCOEC Screamerswere winners at this event and, with wins at event 2 and 3, Croft Farm Flyers win a place at the Champions Cup in Rutland. Team winners - SCOEC Screamers

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
