Club: Covenham Cyclones
RYA zone:  North Zone
T15 head coach:  Lucy Dunnett
Other T15 coaches:  Chris Hall, Mark Ellis, Andy Steer

How long have you been a T15 club?
2 years

Where is your club?
At Covenham Reservoir, near Louth in Lincolnshire.

When does your T15 club meet?
Every Thursday evening and on Saturday afternoons once it gets too dark in the evenings.

How much does a session cost?
£3 per session (+£17 to join the club for a year).

Do you have equipment if clubbers don't yet have their own?
Yes

How would you describe your T15 club?
Really enthusiastic and friendly.

What's really cool about your T15 club?
We've had lots of support from club members and parents, especially 'Planing Derrick' our 'Team Manager'!  The club also has its very own "tropical island".

Have you taken part in any T15 inter-club competitions yet?
Yes, we took part in all of them last year and all of them so far this year.

Which club members are currently in your racing team15?
Greg Baldock, Kieran Burley, Joe Dickinson, Tom Dickinson, Ben Foxon, Kieren Henderson, Daniel Hufton, Harry Maw, Jack Maw, Joe Moore, Bethany Plaskett, Hannah Tasker, Andrew Thompson, Simon Thompson, Alex Baldock

What has been your best team result?
Winning the North Zone series last year and going to the Champions Cup.

Do you have a website with T15 details on it?
There is some information on the Training Centre's website: http://www.a2w.co.uk/.  A couple of the kids are working on having a dedicated Cyclones website so watch this space...

What are your plans for the club?
To begin to get some of the kids into the zone squad and to keep it growing and keep bringing new kids into the sport.  The older kids now take it in turns to help to coach the newer kids on a Thursday night, which works really well.

Is Your club sponsored/supported by anybody?
Smartlife, Club Vass, Sportsmatch, Reefrash surf shop, BMW Astle, Lincoln Co-op!  We need more kit and are always looking for companies to sponsor a rig and in return we put their logo on that sail.

What would you say to people considering joining T15?
Do a Start windsurfing course to get the basics.  You will then have no problems joining in a T15 session.  Don't worry about sailing with kids who are better than you.  Sailing with them will be lots of fun and they'll help you to improve really fast.

Finally, any top tips for T15 clubbers?
1) Spend as much time as possible out on the water.  If there's not much wind get out on a big board and do loads of freestyle.  Get out on a short board when it's windy!
2) Keep trying new things, even if you fall in lots
3) Always look where you WANT to go!
4) If you are consistently winning races in your class, don't be persuaded to stay in that class too long - the sooner you move up, the sooner you will be winning the bigger classes and you will be impoving lots faster.

Oh yeah - and PLEASE put all the club kit AWAY at the end of the session!!!!!!

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.

Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.

Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
