Event 2
Venue: Clyde Windsurfing Club, Loch Winnoch
Date: Saturday 1 July 2006

The second T15 event in Scotland was hosted by the Clyde Barracudas on the 1st of July at Lochwinnoch.

The Saturday event proved to be a fantastic day with our second event following on from the first with sunshine and a fantastic southerly wind. The kids where all keen to get started but due to the Scottish School holidays Eastkilbride  Eagles and Monikie Maniacs where unable to attend. With a small field of kids race officer Iain Jackson set about organising the kids for some very competitive racing, the kids where determined to show of there skills to the expectant crowd now gathered on this suny day.

Two courses where set out, the small classes opting for a sausage course with the 6.8 and the techno fleet going for victory on a box course.

The 3.5 and 4.5 fleet found the conditions testing for the first few runs, nerves playing a part. But nerves soon settled and all the surfers got into the swing of some tremendous performances, Danielle Stewart put in a great show winning the 3.5 fleet with style great sailing despite being so new to the sport.

The 4.5 fleet was closely contested but eventual winner Ross Kenmuir getting in his stride to win overall with six wins fantastic site. Ross even shoed off his freestyle skills with a rail ride on the jetty to finish his sixth race, Race officer Iain is now seeking a hard hat for event three.

Amy Kenmuir not to be out done in a class of her own did very well competing round the same course as the Techno Fleet.

The techno fleet was definitely showing off some inner club rivalry. All five competitors really going for it round the box course. A particularly impressive performance came from Chris Dowson which saw him cruise to victory with seven straight wins.

The action for second place was hot with Jordan O’Hara and Emma Dowson taking it right down to the last race. Some great planning finishes which produced a second place for Emma Dowson.

Clyde Barracudas once again put on a very impressive performance. The now coveted special prize of Jaffa Cakes went to Ross Kenmuir for his rail ride. The whole day went fantastically. The lunch time Barbeque provided by Laura and Jackie was superb. Clyde once again put on a great event, thank you to everybody involved and special thanks goes to Iain Jackson.

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.

Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.

Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
