Event 4
In the largest 3.5m class, Daniel Wilson of the Notts County Outlaws, slotted straight into his race winning performance from the previous event with a first, followed by a rapidly improving team member, Emily Hall. In third place Daniels younger sister Emma had an excellent start to the day and firmly placed the Outlaws in pole position in the 3.5m class. At the end of the day, however Daniel was untouchable and consistent sailing by Michael Horsley of the Carsington Comets secured a second for him place ahead of Emma with Emily finishing 4th.
The 4.5m class was a real Comets vs. Bullets shootout, with Thomas Owen of the Bullets taking the first race and Dale Burgess of the Comets chasing in 2nd. Jade Rogers (Comets) sailed well to take third and secure valuable points. Despite occasional challenges from Rachel Glendening, Luke Foster and Amy Barratt, the top three places finished as they started, with the Comets feeling in an optimistic mood. The 5.5m Class was surprisingly the smallest and this time the tables were turned. Charlie Worthington of the Bullets sailed an excellent race series to take first ahead of team member Charlie Money followed up by Rebecca Lovatt of the Comets. Theo Hempshall sailed superbly to take first in the 6.8m Open Class with Andrew Smith chasing to secure second, and pursued by Riley Harber of the Pitsford Pirates to break up the Bullets and Comets domination. Ex Squad sailor Josh Leadbetter had a great day to take first in the 6.8m Techno Class for the Bullets with team member Nicola Granger putting in a great performance to finish ahead of squad sailor Kieran Martin of the Bullets.
The Comets - just pipped at the post... So a nail biting finish for the series and after the calculations it was the Bosworth Bullets finishing top by 2 points on the day and also 2 points ahead to claim the champions title for the Midlands T15 series and to go forward to the Champions Cup. The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
