Event 2
Near perfect conditions through the day with a steady warm 7-12 knots meant some tough sail size choices and a boost in numbers to the 3.5m class. The 3.5m class also saw some new faces and a new team from the Pitsford Pirates. Sisters Victoria & Sophie Archer sailed a great first event, with Sophie even taking 3rd and along with team member Riley Harber in the tough 5.5m class, lifting the Pirates result to 3rd place overall. 8yr old Michael Horsley (Carsington Comets) sailed brilliantly all day, only narrowly being pushed into second by the ice cool consistency of Robyn Robinson (Bullets).
The 4.5m lass was totally dominated by Dale Burgess (Comets) finishing on minimum points with Charlie Money (Bullets) next, narrowly ahead of Jade Rogers (Comets). The 5.5m class saw Zone Squad sailor Zac King (Bullets) power round the course to take first place, pursued by Rebecca Lovatt (Carsington), whilst the 6.8m Open class saw Theo Hempshall (Comets) in top form discarding a second to claim minimum points and first place. The 6.8m Techno class were pushed hard on the full course with Zone Squad sailors, Mathew Brown and Kieran Martin taking top honours. Home patch sailors, Carsington Comets this time claimed the top team prize ahead of the Bosworth Bullets, reversing the Event 1 result and leaving the 2006 Midland T15 Championship wide open as both teams go towards event three on equal points. The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
