Event 2 Winning Team Loch Insh Watersports sponsored team
Monsters surf to second victory East Kilbride Eagles were the hosts on Saturday 14th June for the second event in this years Scottish Team15 inter-club series. Team15 is the nationwide network of windsurfing clubs for youngsters of up to age 15. The first event of the year was held on the previous weekend, on June 7th, when the Loch Insh Monsters took a runaway win on their extensive home waters. But would the little loch at East Kilbride cramp the Monsters style? They faced competition from Clyde Barracudas and Sportscotland Superstars as well as from their hosts. The four teams fielded 23 young windsurfers, and the light winds gave a good taste of T15 racing to the younger competitors. All classes of windsurfer had seven races. The Monsters started well when Rory MacKeachan took the 3.5 meter class, the smallest sail, but Holly MacPhail from Clyde Barracudas performed equally well, with wins in all the counting races, to take the 4.5 meter class. Both these two were deserving winners of Merit awards. Another little Monster scared the competition in the 5.5 meter class, as Caitlin Sedgeworth took that class, though the Barracudas Callum Kerr kept his team in the hunt with a win in the 5.5 meter Techno. In the board with the biggest sails, Anna Lee Hargreaves won the 6.8 meter class for the Monsters, while Jordan OHara for the Barracudas replied with a win in the 6.8 meter Techno class. So it was a much closer fight this weekend, but the Monsters still chalked up their second event win of the year, and have high hopes of retaining their 2007 Scottish T15 series title. But the Barracudas pressed hard to take second overall, with East Kilbride Eagles in third.

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
