Event 1 Winning Team
WEST KIRBY WARRIORS CLAIM FIRST WIN IN THE WEST The West Zone Team15 (T15) inter-club series kicked off this weekend (Saturday 6th June) at Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough. Some of the best youngsters were unable to attend, as the Zone Squad youngsters were at a coaching event, so many less experienced youngsters had the chance to take the spotlight. Winds were light and shifty, so tested competitors and organisers alike. Biggest class was the 3.5 meter boards with fifteen competitors, showing that plenty of new young windsurfers are coming on board T15 in the West. Rebecca Thompson from Manley Mere Katz took this class, and team mate Thomas Bulkeley followed up with a win in the 4.5m class, compiling a perfect scoreline of four race victories. But West Kirby fought back with victories through Oliver Bradley Baker and Charlie Lloyd in the 5.5m and 6.8m class, then clinched a fine team victory when Josh Knight took the Techno 6.8m class. National champs Team Astbury had to be content playing second fiddle this time, but they, along with the up and coming Manley Mere Katz, and all the other teams will have the chance to join battle again at the second event of the year at West Kirby on June 28th. If you fancy joining in the next event, then read the Notice of Race for details and we look forward to seeing you on the water. |

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
