Event 1
Home team off to flying start in youth windsurfing contest The regions young windsurfers had a cracking start to their RYA Team15 (T15) inter-club racing season last weekend, when local team Roseland Wave Riders beat off stiff competition from the Siblyback Water Warriors and the Tamar Tigers at a triangle event at Roseland Paddle and Sail. The winning team included six sailors from just two talented families – Lucy (9), Adam (13) and Gemma (14) Grayston from Tregony and Ross (8), Nat (12) and Jack (15) Warren from Portscatho. Ross commented: I cant wait till the next event – this is so much fun! Big sister Gemma, and Henry Wahl (12) of the Tamar Tigers have both improved their skills tremendously since last season, and could well have serious windsurfing careers ahead of them – but theyd better watch out for Charlie Purcell (9), who completed all his races having only attended his Team 15 club three times! The other Roseland Wave Riders were: This was an exciting first round to what will undoubtedly be an extremely close-fought competition for the title of Regional Champions, and an opportunity to compete in the National T15 Champions Cup in October. |

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
