Winning Team
Oxford Zoomers
Tushingham sponsored team

Zooming through the qualifiers

The Oxford Zoomers appear to be on course for another regional title after winning the south regions second event at Calshot Activities Centre  in Southampton  (Sunday 20th July).

Greeted with much better wind conditions than the flat clam days that so often plague Team15 events the 39 youngsters were in for some fast races.

The Queen Mary Skimmers from London were the only team who could steal a class victory from the Zoomers on the day with Charlie Wilson pipping Calshot Flyer Sam Hibdige to the post to win the 6.8m class.

The Zoomers pulled out all the stops again proving why they have been regional champions for the past two years and scooped up victories in the remaining four classes and their second event victory of the season.

Zoomer Alex Parker put in an excellent performance beating 15 sailors in the 3.5m fleet while team mate Guy Dixon fought off stiff competition from Skimmer Jason Harbor to win the 4.5m class.  Zoomer George Simmonds kept Academy All Star Misty Thorne at bay in the 5.5m class adding another win to the Zoomers running total however it was the 6.8m Techno class that saw the most impressive results posted.  Tom Squires, Sam Jenkins and Chris Guest finished in first, second and third place respectively sealing the Zoomers’ victory in style.

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.

Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.

Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
