Club: Aqua Sports Aquanauts
RYA zone: SE Zone
T15 head coach: Duncan Adams

How long have you been a T15 club?
Since May 2001

Where is your club?
The Aqua Sports Company is based at Mercers Country Park, a 50 acre lake near Redhill in Surrey

When does your T15 club meet?
We have two types of sessions:
• For beginners we have team 15 training on Saturday mornings between 9.30 –11.30
• We also have team 15 Race Training on Wednesday evenings for more advanced / slightly older windsurfers

How much does a session cost?
• It is £10 to join Saturday Club each year (age 8 –13) and £7 for each Saturday that you come along
• The cost of the Wednesday evening training is £35 membership per year and £10 for the session, or just £5 if you have your own equipment

Do you have equipment if clubbers don't yet have their own?
Yes, it is included in the cost of the T15 sessions

How would you describe your T15 club?
Friendly Fun.

What's really cool about your T15 club?
We have regular training sessions with our white badge T15 coach; there's also a barbecue on Wednesdays and there's always plenty of equipment available.

Have you taken part in any T15 inter-club competitions yet?
Yes, we attended every South East Zone T15 event this year and won the team trophy for the series.

Which club members are currently in your racing team15?

  • Aaron Curtis
  • Chris Fey
  •  Pete Fey
  •  Mike Ford
  •  Anthony Gillan
  •  James Hopkins
  • Richard Maskey
  •  Anthony Scales
  •  Redmond Scales

What has been your best team result?
1st Club for every event in the 2002 T15 inter-club series and winner of best overall team.

Do you have a website with T15 details on it?
Currently under construction - will be up and running by next year.
team 15 event info can be found in the members news section of our website.

What are your plans for the club?
To compete at every event and develop a large team 15 club.

What would you say to people considering joining T15?
It is about having lots of fun windsurfing; we have sessions for all ability levels whether you have just started to windsurf or if you are already quite experienced. You don’t need to have your own equipment we provide it all during training sessions and for events if necessary.

Finally, any top tips for T15 clubbers?
It’s a great way to develop your windsurfing, meet other windsurfers and sail at different locations.

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.

Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.

Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
