Following a sixth place at the recent ISAF World Sailing Championships, Nick has been selected to represent the UK at the Athens Olympics in 2004. Nick needed to finish in the top eight to be considered for nomination to the BOA for Olympic selection. The sxth place secured this and with a current World Ranking of 11th (as of 6 August 2003) Nick will get second shot at Olympic Gold.

How old were you when you started windsurfing? 7 years old at Ferry Meadows, nr. Peterborough [now T15 club Lakeside Loafers - featured last month as Cool Club]
What made you want to start windsurfing? It looked cool
What equipment do you sail? A wave board too! One design. Mistral, North
When and where did you start competing? RYA Youth Nationals, Weymouth 1992
What is your best result and the one you are most proud of? First - Palma 2001> Princess Sophia Regatta for Olympic Classes.
What is your training schedule like? 15 hours on bike, 6 hours in gym and 15 hours on water per week.
What windsurfers do you socialize with during training and events? It varies. I spend a lot of time with the British sailing team. I will spend a lot of time this year with my training partner Leo McCallin.

Best windsurfing moment ever? Sailing between islands in New Caledonia
Scariest moment? Broken boom three miles off shore with the wind blowing 25knots off shore. No coach boat. Palma 2003
Who or what has inspired you the most? My coach Barrie. Different sailors within the Sailing Team and Lance Armstrong
What are your ambitions for the future? Olympic Gold
Any hidden talents outside of windsurfing? No
