How old were you when you started windsurfing? 13 years old.
What made you want to start windsurfing? Sailed in boats first then started windsurfing with a friend and enjoyed it so started competing in events.
What equipment do you sail? I sail Mistral One Design, which is the official Olympic board.
When and where did you start competing? Started competing at club level, then national youth selections and competed at my first Youth Worlds in Holland 1991.
What is your best result and the one you are most proud of? At Youth level my best result was winning 3rd ISAF Youth Worlds. Currently my best result is 2nd at the European IMCO Championships 2002.
How did you break onto the world scene? I started competing at Youth Worlds then moved onto the European circuit to gain more experience.
Who do you socialize with on the World Tour? With the GBR team we are travelling, training and competing together. I also hangout with other competitors from a variety of nationalities who I have become friends with over the years whilst competing.
Tell us some gossip on two pro sailors! Sorry, no gossip to tell of!
Best windsurfing moment ever?
Scariest moment? Training before the World Titles in South Africa and had a close encounter with a shark!!!
Who or what has inspired you the most? My family have been very supportive of me over the years and my brother has helped me a lot with my windsurfing.
What are your ambitions for the future? Selection in GBR team for the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Any hidden talents outside of windsurfing? I enjoy surfing and do a lot in my time off, but wouldn't say I was talented in that area.
And if you weren't a windsurfer what career would you be following? Have done a travel course and am doing a swimming instructors course. Once I have finished the swimming instructors course I would like to work in that field for a while. I am also a sailing and windsurfing instructor and have done part-time work over the years.
Finally, any top tips for T15 clubbers? Have fun, make friends and always enjoy competing at every level.
