AND THE WINNER IS...
Posted On:  09/10/2008 1:16:51 PM

This year your club was in with a chance of winning a superb prize - a Bic Techno 293 OD board...and the winner was announced at Champions Cup prize-giving.

So how did you qualify for this prize draw and who won?

We announced at the beginning of the year that this board was up for grabs. All T15 clubs had a chance - or four - to qualify. Every time your club managed to get a full team of 15 to a zone inter-club event, with at least  two sailors on Technos, then your club name went into the prize draw. This meant that each club had up to four chances of winning and some clubs managed to get their name into the hat four times, whilst many others achieved it at least once.

And the winning team was quite a shock!

Having had a tough battle this year in the west zone inter-club events, last year's Champions Cup winners, TeamAstbury, were beaten by the West Kirby Warriors. Consequently they failed to qualify for the 2008 final and could not defend their title. They were understandably distraught...

But whose name should come out of the hat to win the prize-draw board? Yep, you guessed it - TeamAstbury!

So last year they won a Bic Techno for being Champion Team. This year they won a Techno for attending all their T15 inter-club events and managing to field a full team of 15 sailors at three of the four events.

So whether you manage to win your zone series next year or not, you could still win a board! We will continue with a Bic Techno as a prize-draw on an annual basis and hope this will encourage your club to attend all your zone inter-club events, and work towards getting a full team of 15 sailors, with at least two on Technos during 2009. Good luck!

We are the Champions!

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.

Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.

Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
